Getting Started
How do I start a focus session?
Simply tap the "Start Focus" button on the main screen. The timer will begin counting down from your set focus duration.
How do I change the timer duration?
Go to Settings > Focus Duration or Break Duration. Available options:
- Focus: 15, 20, 25, 30, 45, or 60 minutes
- Break: 3, 5, 10, or 15 minutes
What is the Pomodoro Technique?
The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method that uses focused work intervals (typically 25 minutes) followed by short breaks. This helps maintain concentration and prevents burnout.
Timer
Can I pause the timer?
Yes! Tap the pause button during an active session. Tap again to resume.
Does the timer work in the background?
Yes, the timer continues when you switch to other apps or lock your device.
What happens when the timer ends?
You'll hear a gentle notification sound (if enabled), and the app will prompt you to take a break or start a new focus session.
Ambient Sounds
How do I enable ambient sounds?
Go to the Sounds screen from the main menu. Available sounds:
- Soft Rain
- Calm Forest
- Cozy Cafe
- White Noise
The sounds aren't playing. What should I do?
- Ensure your device isn't on silent mode
- Check that volume is turned up
- Go to Settings and make sure "Sounds Enabled" is on
- Try closing and reopening the app
Statistics
How are statistics calculated?
- Today's Pomodoros: Number of focus sessions completed today
- Weekly Hours: Total focus time for the current week
- Current Streak: Consecutive days with at least one completed pomodoro
When does my streak reset?
Your streak resets if you don't complete at least one focus session in a calendar day.
Troubleshooting
App Won't Open
- Force quit the app and reopen
- Restart your device
- Check for app updates in the App Store
- Delete and reinstall the app (note: this resets your data)
Timer Not Working Correctly
- Make sure Low Power Mode is disabled
- Check that Background App Refresh is enabled for Serenity Focus
- Restart the app
No Sound
- Check device volume and silent switch
- Verify "Sounds Enabled" is on in Settings
- Try selecting a different sound
- Restart the app
